Le Festival international du film de Vancouver (VIFF) présente la semaine prochaine sa 42e édition, la première manifestation entièrement en salle depuis 2019. La programmation de cette année comprend environ 140 longs métrages et 100 courts métrages, présentés sur 10 écrans dans sept lieux de Vancouver.

Le festival s’ouvrira officiellement avec Fallen Leaves du réalisateur finlandais Aki Kaurismäki, une comédie poignante sur deux âmes solitaires qui croient qu’elles sont faites l’une pour l’autre, qui a remporté le prix du jury à Cannes. Le film de clôture sera La Passion de Dodin Bouffant de Tran Anh Hùng — qui ouvrira le FNC en octobre —, un regard sur le partenariat romantique, intuitif et intime entre un célèbre gourmand et sa cuisinière bien-aimée, interprétée par Juliette Binoche. Le film a valu à Tran le prix du meilleur réalisateur à Cannes, 30 ans après que son premier film, L’odeur de la papaye verte, a remporté la Caméra d’or au même festival.

La programmation de 2023 aborde les thèmes les plus pressants de notre vie quotidienne, des méditations intimes sur la maternité et la dynamique de la famille aux impacts considérables des changements climatiques sur le monde qui nous entoure.

Les billets sont en vente dès maintenant sur viff.org. Les billets individuels coûtent 18$ pour les projections régulières, les galas et les présentations spéciales. Les packs de billets sont disponibles en six, dix et vingt exemplaires. Les membres du VIFF+ bénéficient de réductions sur tous les billets du VIFF et l’adhésion gratuite U25 offre des réductions supplémentaires aux jeunes âgés de 19 à 25 ans.
