Coming to Mubi | October 2025

On 27 September 2025

It’s Mubi’s turn to present its October releases. October, of course, means horror films. And Mubi is no exception.

Here are the 3 new films of the year and the 2 classics arriving this October.

This Year’s New Releases

Lurker (Drama, Thriller)

Exclusively streaming on Mubi starting October 10.

Directed by Alex Russell (2025)

Lurker - Fin ambivalante

When a twenty-something retail clerk encounters a rising pop star, he takes the opportunity to edge his way into the in-crowd. But as the line between friend and fan blurs beyond recognition, access and proximity become a matter of life or death.

Lurker stars Canadian actor Théodore Pellerin (Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, Franklin, Beau Is Afraid), Archie Madekwe (Saltburn, Midsommar), and is the directorial debut from The Bear and Beef writer-producer Alex Russell. The film had its Canadian premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2025.

Realm of Satan (Documentary)

Streaming starting October 3.

Directed by Scott Cummings (2024)

Realm Of Satan - Une

The film is an experiential portrait depicting Satanists in both the everyday and in the extraordinary as they fight to preserve their lifestyle: magic, mystery, and misanthropy.

Realm of Satan had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024, and screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival in the same year. You can read our review here.

Familiar Touch (Drama)

Streaming starting October 24.

Directed by Sarah Friedland (2024)

Familiar Touch

An octogenarian woman transitions to life in assisted living as she contends with her conflicting relationship to herself and her caregivers amidst her shifting memory, age identity, and desires.

Familiar Touch is director Sarah Friedland’s debut feature film. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2024, where Friedland won the Orizzonti Award for Best Director.

Arriving Classics

Thrills, Chills and Exquisite Horrors

Since the beginnings of film history, audiences have been drawn to scary movies like moths to a flame, finding in the shadowy space of the cinema hall their darkest fears and suspicions come terrifyingly alive. The allure of horror films, beyond the pleasing aesthetics of gore and desire, is that they offer a protective space in which audiences can test out their anxieties and have a direct encounter with their nightmares. This Halloween season, plunge into the heart of darkness with a selection of striking cinematic horrors from the Thrills, Chills and Exquisite Horrors collection on Mubi.

Luz (Horror, Mystery, Romance)

Streaming starting October 1.

Directed by Tilman Singer (2018)

Luz

A young cabdriver drags herself into the brightly lit entrance of a run-down police station. A demonic entity follows her, determined to finally be close to the woman it loves.

Hollywood 90028 (Drama, Horror)

Streaming starting October 3.

Directed by Christina Hornisher (1973)

Mark, a young photographer, travels to Hollywood hoping to make it as a cameraman in the movie business. Unfortunately, the only jobs he can find are shooting porn “loops” for a sleazy producer.
