Canada\u2019s first LGBTQ+ film festival, image+nation. LGBT2SQueer Film Festival Montreal returns from November 20 to 30, 2025 with a program featuring works by major names in world queer cinema as well as new discoveries. To extend the experience online, screenings of award-winning films and exclusive content will be offered until December 7, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To open this 2025 edition, the festival will host the world premiere of Canadian director Gail Maurice\u2019s new film, Blood Lines<\/em>, which will be presented at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Outremont on November 20, 2025. Filmed in a M\u00e9tis village and in the Michif language (spoken by less than 1,200 people), Maurice’s evocative film unveils landscapes and communities never before seen on screen. Offering a clear-eyed look at the lives of adopted Indigenous children and intergenerational trauma, Blood Lines<\/em> is a female-centered narrative exploring survival, patience, and community. Carried by a unique and warm humour, this new feature film by Gail Maurice, which follows Rosie<\/em>, the opening film of I+N35 in 2022, stands out as one of the year\u2019s most audacious releases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The year 2025 also marks the 25th anniversary of Queerment Qu\u00e9bec (QQ25), image+nation’s flagship initiative that supports queer filmmakers from Montreal and Quebec. The QQ25 event will be highlighted with special retrospective elements during its signature evening at the PHI Centre, in a night filled with meetings, exchanges, and discussions with the filmmakers in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two new activities are also making their debut in the 2025 program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To encourage networking and collaboration among the new generation of young Quebec filmmakers, The Student Night, a new initiative, brings together college (c\u00e9gep) and university students in a space for exchanges and ideas. Highlighting the next wave of Quebec queer cinema and offering the public the opportunity to discover the next wave of LGBTQ+ storytellers, this evening, held at the NFB (National Film Board), promises to be a source of inspiration and new collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, image+nation will also present The KINO Night, a presentation of queer short films created in collaboration with KINO Montr\u00e9al.
