Jeune avocate fra\u00eechement dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e, Nora (No\u00e9e Abita) a l\u2019impression de n\u2019avoir rien v\u00e9cu lorsqu\u2019elle est propuls\u00e9e dans sa premi\u00e8re affaire p\u00e9nale. De sa premi\u00e8re garde \u00e0 vue au suivi de l\u2019instruction, Nora d\u00e9couvre la cruaut\u00e9 du monde qui l\u2019entoure, dans sa vie intime comme professionnelle. Emport\u00e9e par la fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie de sa nouvelle vie, elle multiplie les erreurs et en vient \u00e0 questionner ses choix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si la premi\u00e8re affaire judiciaire de Nora s\u2019av\u00e8re \u00eatre un parcours initiatique, le r\u00e9alisateur d\u00e9tonne de par sa proposition cin\u00e9matographique. Loin du tumulte des tribunaux et du traitement classique d\u2019une affaire criminelle, c\u2019est plut\u00f4t \u00ab l\u2019affaire Nora \u00bb que le spectateur a le droit de voir. Entre t\u00e2tonnement et h\u00e9sitation, Nora s\u2019avance dans un monde o\u00f9 la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 ne devient qu\u2019un concept. Un concept qui se tord et se d\u00e9figure au profit de diverses fortunes personnelles. Oui le syst\u00e8me judiciaire ressemble parfois \u00e0 une machine b\u00eate et m\u00e9chante capable de broyer les gens et les avocats, mais est-ce une v\u00e9rit\u00e9 ou une perception?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le visage ang\u00e9lique de cette petite femme fra\u00eechement dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e contraste avec la froideur bleut\u00e9e du commissariat d\u2019Arras (nord de la France). Nora est catapult\u00e9e sans m\u00e9nagement au c\u00f4t\u00e9 de Jordan, un gamin de 17 ans accus\u00e9 d\u2019un meurtre dans la r\u00e9gion. Loin de la chaleur des bureaux parisiens, la r\u00e9alisatrice plonge sa protagoniste dans les ab\u00eemes du syst\u00e8me p\u00e9nal. Si le r\u00e9cit ne se penche pas sur le syst\u00e8me en lui-m\u00eame, il cherche le sens de ce dernier dans les yeux de Nora qui, face \u00e0 son client et cette affaire op\u00e8re, un profond examen de conscience. Dois-je d\u00e9fendre un potentiel criminel? Jordan dit-il la v\u00e9rit\u00e9? Qui dois-je croire?  Dois-je contredire mes propres principes? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nora (No\u00e9e Abita)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019articulation du r\u00e9cit ne dresse pas seulement une premi\u00e8re affaire criminelle pour son personnage principal. C\u2019est aussi la premi\u00e8re affaire de sa vie o\u00f9 les accros commencent \u00e0 s’encha\u00eener \u00e0 mesure que son obsession pour le cas de Jordan l\u2019envahit jusqu\u2019\u00e0 s\u2019immiscer dans ses choix personnels. Submerg\u00e9 par ses \u00e9motions et son incapacit\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9tacher sa profession de sa personne, Victoria Musiedlak transforme son personnage en une sorte de pantin emport\u00e9 par un tourbillon de mauvaises d\u00e9cisions que sa candeur et na\u00efvet\u00e9 ne font qu\u2019aggraver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La cam\u00e9ra assiste \u00e0 l\u2019impuissance et la cr\u00e9dulit\u00e9 de Nora \u00e0 travers ses yeux que la cruaut\u00e9 de monde commence petit \u00e0 petit \u00e0 noircir. Si le film ressemble \u00e0 une qu\u00eate initiatique, c\u2019est bien parce que la cam\u00e9ra ne quitte son objet d\u2019\u00e9tude que rarement. La cam\u00e9ra l\u2019\u00e9touffe quasi dans chaque plan, la pr\u00e9sente recluse dans chaque espace et m\u00eame dans son petit studio parisien. Si l\u2019\u00e9mancipation est un objectif commun \u00e0 tout le monde, celle-ci ne peut se faire sans une exp\u00e9rience de solitude ou nos choix et nos id\u00e9aux sont malmen\u00e9s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avant de d\u00e9fendre son client, Nora doit apprendre \u00e0 se d\u00e9fendre. Contre sa m\u00e8re qui la culpabilise de son traumatisme, contre l\u2019inspecteur Servan qui la culpabilise \u00e0 cause de sa beaut\u00e9. Avec sa voix fluette et son air enfantin, la r\u00e9alisatrice oblige son personnage \u00e0 avancer malgr\u00e9 la douleur et la froideur visuelle de la ville d\u2019Arras pour enfin sortir du carcan de l\u2019immaturit\u00e9 soulign\u00e9e dans la mise en sc\u00e8ne comme cocon chaleureux et color\u00e9 (la maison de ses parents, le cabinet d\u2019avocat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malgr\u00e9 quelques sc\u00e8nes qui s\u2019\u00e9ternisent un peu trop longtemps et des longueurs qui cassent l\u2019effet introspectif du film, Victoria Musiedlak dresse une probl\u00e9matique assez actuelle : est-ce la personne qui transforme son emploi ou l\u2019emploi qui transforme la personne? Un avocat est-il la cause ou la cons\u00e9quence des d\u00e9faillances du syst\u00e8me judiciaire? Comment trouver du sens dans son travail? Comment faire le bon choix? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premi\u00e8re affaire<\/em> est une question de point de vue. Un point de vue qui, in fine<\/em>, ne permettra pas forc\u00e9ment de percevoir la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 absolue, mais plut\u00f4t sa propre v\u00e9rit\u00e9.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
