Pourquoi ils disent pas non, des fois?<br>\u2014 Parce que depuis qu\u2019ils sont arriv\u00e9s ici, on leur dit qu\u2019on peut les renvoyer n\u2019importe quand. Y\u2019ont peur. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-affiche.jpg\" alt=\"Richelieu - affiche\" class=\"wp-image-37961\" width=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-affiche.jpg 461w, https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-affiche-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Suite \u00e0 une s\u00e9paration houleuse qui la laisse cribl\u00e9e de dettes, Ariane (Ariane Castellanos) n\u2019a pas le choix d\u2019aller travailler \u00e0 l\u2019usine agricole de son ancien village. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence de sa m\u00e8re (Micheline Bernard), elle sera la traductrice pour les travailleurs temporaires du Guatemala, sous la direction de St\u00e9phane (Marc-Andr\u00e9 Grondin), qui subit un stress constant de ses patrons et qui est pr\u00eat \u00e0 tout pour que l\u2019usine ne ferme pas. M\u00eame si cela implique d&#8217;abuser de ses employ\u00e9s les plus vuln\u00e9rables. Ariane acceptera-t-elle d\u2019\u00eatre complice et silencieuse devant ces abus?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un travail de longue haleine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u2019ai eu la chance de parler avec Pier-Philippe Chevigny, le r\u00e9alisateur, pour en apprendre un peu plus sur la naissance du projet et son ex\u00e9cution.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Richelieu est son premier long-m\u00e9trage et, comme la plupart des premiers films sont des sujets personnels, je lui ai demand\u00e9 si les \u00e9v\u00e9nements montr\u00e9s dans le film provenaient de son v\u00e9cu. D\u2019entr\u00e9e de jeu, je suis avertie; il y aura plusieurs informations qui seront vagues et qu\u2019il ne pourra me donner pour prot\u00e9ger ses sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Je marche un peu sur des coquilles d\u2019\u0153ufs, parce qu\u2019il y a des choses que je ne peux pas r\u00e9v\u00e9ler sur l\u2019origine du projet parce que je prot\u00e8ge l\u2019anonymat de plein de gens qui m\u2019ont parl\u00e9. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Son approche s\u2019apparente \u00e0 celle d\u2019un documentariste; il fait des recherches, fait des entrevues, pour ensuite \u00e9crire un sc\u00e9nario de fiction. Ce processus lui permet une plus grande flexibilit\u00e9 et la possibilit\u00e9 de prot\u00e9ger les gens questionn\u00e9s. Car pour ce film, ses recherches ont commenc\u00e9 en 2013 (!) \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 ce sujet n\u2019\u00e9tait pas d\u2019actualit\u00e9. Aucun film, aucun documentaire, seulement quelques all\u00e9gations ici et l\u00e0, mais rien de concret. C\u2019est en discutant avec les travailleurs concern\u00e9s que Pier-Philippe comprend pourquoi rien ne ressort sur les conditions des travailleurs. Rencontrer les travailleurs chez eux \u00e9tait plus pratique et plus s\u00e9curitaire pour les gens concern\u00e9s. Car au Qu\u00e9bec, ils travaillent tout le temps et ne veulent pas \u00eatre vus ou aper\u00e7us avec quelqu\u2019un qui s\u2019apparente \u00e0 un journaliste. Et le fait qu\u2019ils peuvent \u00eatre sous surveillance n\u2019aide pas la situation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si son sc\u00e9nario est un collage des t\u00e9moignages qu\u2019il a re\u00e7us, Pier-Philippe Chevigny tient aussi \u00e0 aviser que ce n\u2019est pas comme \u00e7a partout. Dans ses recherches, il aussi pu constater que les conditions de travail sont bonnes \u00e0 plusieurs endroits. L\u2019exploitation n\u2019est pas partout et il y a des endroits o\u00f9 le syst\u00e8me fonctionne bien. Cependant, le programme est ainsi fait que si des employeurs veulent exploiter ou sont mal intentionn\u00e9s, ils peuvent s\u2019en tirer sans cons\u00e9quence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En offrant seulement des permis de travail ferm\u00e9s, les travailleurs sont li\u00e9s \u00e0 un seul employeur et perdent leur permis de travail s\u2019ils sont renvoy\u00e9s ou d\u00e9cident de d\u00e9missionner. Ainsi, comme montr\u00e9 dans le film, l\u2019employeur peut donc disposer ou menacer ses employ\u00e9s s\u2019ils ne font pas ce qu\u2019il souhaite. Et les employ\u00e9s n\u2019ont aucune marge de man\u0153uvre, car ils ne peuvent changer d\u2019emploi pour trouver mieux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Le film sort \u00e0 un moment o\u00f9 il y a un consensus qui est atteint dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Il y a des probl\u00e8mes avec ce programme-l\u00e0 et il serait temps de r\u00e9former les choses \u00bb, remarque Pier-Philippe Chevigny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le processus de casting a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 compliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 cause de la pand\u00e9mie. L\u2019intention de d\u00e9part du r\u00e9alisateur \u00e9tait d\u2019engager enti\u00e8rement des com\u00e9diens du Guatemala et de les faire venir ici. Pour les auditions, il a eu l\u2019aide du r\u00e9alisateur Jayro Bustamante, un r\u00e9alisateur guat\u00e9malt\u00e8que de renom, qui a rencontr\u00e9 les com\u00e9diens et film\u00e9 les auditions. Malheureusement, avec les contraintes de la pand\u00e9mie, ils ont pu choisir seulement trois acteurs pour jouer les travailleurs \u00e9trangers principaux dans le film. Un seul a eu son visa \u00e0 temps. Le second acteur a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 l\u2019obtenir plus tard, n\u00e9cessitant un recasting et le troisi\u00e8me n\u2019a jamais re\u00e7u son visa. Un v\u00e9ritable casse-t\u00eate pour Pier-Philippe Chevigny.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il heureusement a pu b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de l\u2019aide d\u2019Ariane Castellanos qui conna\u00eet bien la communaut\u00e9 guat\u00e9malt\u00e8que \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, afin de finaliser son casting. Plusieurs r\u00f4les ont pu \u00eatre attribu\u00e9s \u00e0 des non-acteurs, comme les figurants du film par exemple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un r\u00e9alisateur engag\u00e9 et passionn\u00e9<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pier-Philippe Chevigny nous donne un film dur, mais magnifique, sur les conditions de travail de ces travailleurs qui nous sont essentiels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1253\" src=\"https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage.jpg\" alt=\"Richelieu - Un r\u00e9alisateur engag\u00e9\" class=\"wp-image-38511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage.jpg 1800w, https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage-1024x713.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage-768x535.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage-1536x1069.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/lepetitseptieme.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Richelieu-Un-realisateur-engage-600x418.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Le ratio 4:3, judicieusement choisi par le r\u00e9alisateur, nous transmet le sentiment des personnages, qui sont coinc\u00e9s dans une situation ind\u00e9sirable. Que se soit Ariane, qui n\u2019avait aucune envie de revenir dans son ancien village, ou les travailleurs, qui sont parfaitement conscients de leur exploitation, tous sont pris dans cette usine qui les d\u00e9truit \u00e0 petit feu (physiquement et\/ou psychologiquement) dans l\u2019espoir d\u2019un avenir meilleur.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si son premier film n\u2019est pas une histoire de <em>coming of age<\/em>, c\u2019est surtout parce qu\u2019il a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 attir\u00e9 par le cin\u00e9ma engag\u00e9 et social, sujet qu\u2019il a \u00e9galement abord\u00e9 dans ses nombreux courts-m\u00e9trages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;C\u2019est tellement long de faire un film, il faut que le sujet te passionne. (&#8230;) Je fais des films sur les enjeux qui me passionnent, qui m&#8217;emp\u00eachent de dormir le soir. Parce que je sais que si je dois travailler 10 ans sur un truc, je dois \u00eatre <em>all in<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb, explique Pier-Philippe Chevigny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il esp\u00e8re que son film entra\u00eenera une discussion sur le programme des travailleurs \u00e9trangers. Il souhaite aussi ramener le cin\u00e9ma politique et social au Qu\u00e9bec, un genre qui \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sent dans le cin\u00e9ma direct avant, mais qui s\u2019est perdu au fil des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une chose est s\u00fbre, on ne peut plus ignorer ce qui se passe dans notre cour. Certes, les choses commencent \u00e0 changer, mais on doit s\u2019assurer que ces changements arrivent vites et deviennent la norme.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces travailleurs nous sont essentiels, mais ils sont avant tout des \u00eatres humains.
