Every now and then, one of the most lucrative and powerful movie studios in America \u2013 and, by extension, the world \u2013 makes the bold decision to select a germinal and widely-appreciated title and, whether it was released decades or just years ago, take on a new cast, new script writer, and new editing team, and make it all over again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, for anyone who spent any time following the movie industry\u2019s progress through 2020, the most notable example \u2013 for no other reason that the fact that it is the one that remains most fresh in our minds \u2013 is <\/span>Ben Wheatley\u2019s disastrous re-adaptation<\/span><\/a> of Daphne Du Maurier\u2019s classic and eponymous novel, Rebecca.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Starring Lily James and Armie Hammer as the newlyweds, this title landed itself straight into Netflix\u2019s sprawling content library \u2013 but not without making a fair few waves among industry critics and amateur audiences alike, who panned everything from the costumes to the acting, writing, and set design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

REBECCA: Director Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s novel (adapted by Hitchcock in 1940) follows a newly-married young woman (Lily James) who finds herself battling the shadow of her husband’s (Armie Hammer) dead first wife, the mysterious Rebecca.<\/p>\n
